StartupRiot

If you are an entrepreneur, small startup, or just a techie nerd- you’d love StartupRiot in Atlanta. This annual event features small startup businesses in a laid back but fast paced one day conference. This year StartupRiot was held at the Tabernacle, primarily a concert venue, and it was AWESOME!!! It was a pleasure shooting for them!

Free kitten!!!

I saw this sign outside a great local boutique that my wife Katie has fallen in love with. They have a lot of cool clothes, shoes and jewelery so she was in heaven! But the thing that caught my eye was this hilarious sign they had out front last weekend. I LOVE IT!!!

The sign reads:
“MOM & DAD
Please make sure that children 12 & under observe the just look – don’t touch rule. All unattended children will be given a RED BULL and a FREE KITTEN”

That’s such funny way to make a good point!

One sign I saw up at a local hot dog shack says “If you are what you eat then I’m fast, cheap, and easy!” hahaha

What funny / crazy signs have you laughed at?

Muzik!

Showing a few recent concert photos here. First are a couple of Chuck Wicks playing a park concert in Woodstock, GA. I loooove downtown Woodstock and it’s always a good time when they put on their free concerts during the summer!!!

Also I had the opportunity to be involved with a charity auction fundraiser event for Southwest Christian Care in Atlanta. They have a GREAT cause and provide hospice, children’s respite care and a lot more at no cost to the families of those in care. It’s a wonderful organization that really gives a lot of service and a lot of love to the community around them! At this year’s annual banquet and silent auction Amy Grant and her band performed a great set for everyone attending.

Family (dogs too)

One of the most rewarding parts of being the photographer in my family is getting pictures of people I love. Of course that also comes the role of referee and camera-man for all impromptu family portraits, but that’s not such a steep price considering that in exchange there is always a sibling willing to become a model whenever I ask in exchange for getting some good pictures. This is especially great when I want to experiment with a new lighting idea and need a human subject that is willing sit, very bored, for 5 minutes…. well, maybe more like 45 minutes – while I change lenses and move lights little bits at a time. :)

Yesterday I got pretty lucky to have my dog, Bono, posed like a pro with some great light coming in a east-end window. I know you were expecting me to start talking about a sister or a cousin that I just got a picture of, but if you’ve tinkered with pet photography you know it can be tough with very energetic little animals, and that is often the case with Bono. I had just enough time before Bono got antsy to capture an image of him that I really like.

It’s really rewarding to have a picture of someone close to you that you really enjoy when you see it, and it’s always a great memory when you see your picture and remember grabbing a camera on the spur of a moment to get a shot while it lasted.
