NASA STS-131 Shuttle Launch

On April 5th 2010 I headed for Orlando doing around 80 mph and drinking a REALLY good iced coffee from Octane- it was on the way right? 8 hrs of driving was absolutely worth it to get these pictures in Cape Canaveral!

The shuttle launch was scheduled for 6:21 AM. So, naturally you have to take the bus that drops you off at the Kennedy space center at around 4:30 AM.  THAT bus – it leaves the hotel at 4:10 AM… and THAT bus at THAT hotel is 45 minutes away. so ya gotta leave at 3:15 AM… guess who didn’t get up at 2:45 AM when the alarm went off.

ME!!!! I woke up at 3:12! So my buddy Colin and I got dressed, packed, and in the car in about 8 minutes and BOOKED it down to Cape Canaveral and made it in time for the bus, and more importantly- the LAUNCH!!!!! : )

The streak of light in the top left of this picture is the International Space Station passing over in it’s orbit, just minutes before the launch. Way cool.

Flooding in Woodstock

Atlantans as well as many in the metro area were all took by surprise when flash floods shut down small intersections, major highways, and many businesses and homes were damaged. I had the opportunity to run around with a camera over my shoulder and get some photos, and missed my usual monday/tuesday blog update. Here are a few of those images.
