This last week was crazy busy, my wife and I spent the week moving out of our apartment to stay with family while we shop for a house (and new home office – yeaah!!!!) But that didn’t keep me from doing a lot behind a camera last week. In fact, just the opposite! Last week I had the pleasure to teach a workshop for a highschool photography class, a mid week senior portrait session, and then a way fun family portrait session over the weekend; all leading up a great session this morning with a family showing off their new baby boy!!!

Here’s my last 7 days in photos!

I had so much fun with the Skouras family saturday! After doing some cool photos in canton, we headed for the park!

This morning with the Burgamy’s and new baby Trent we spent most the time adoring just how cute and sweet he is. Also noted, Trent Burgamy is gonna be a great quarterback name ; )

Kicking off Fall

This weekend was fantastic for shooting photos outside! I got an early start Saturday and headed out to Conyers, Georgia to meet Darby, a handsome thoroughbred horse, and his human, Nikki.

If you haven’t fed a peppermint to an eager 1100 lb dog, I mean horse, you have got to go try it! Anyways, I wasn’t there to keep Brach’s in business- so we hit the hills to take some portraits of Darby.

Later in the evening, after loading all the pics of Darby and Nikki, it was time to head out to Nightmare Armor Industries to take some photos of their latest work.

Kelly & Rachel – Class of 2010

Had a great time friday night with Kelly and Rachel who are graduating seniors this year!

I don’t do cheesy backdrops (seriously – none) so shoots are always on location; We went to a few different locales to get photos with Kelly and Rachel and it paid off with a lot of unique and fun images and was a great time!!!

But I know what you’re really here for. The PICTURES!

I’ve been really busy the last couple weeks with planning some great new stuff, and taking a lot of photos, but I’m excited to show you a bit of what I’ve been up to!

This weekend I spent a lot of time shooting motorcycles, it is SO much fun shooting something you love!

With the weekend over, getting back to work: Senior Portrait season is roaring loudly into full swing! Monday morning I hung out with a couple cool young guys Michael and Joey, who are now pondering future modeling careers *insert Blue Steel here*

We fought the rainy weather like it was 1999… I don’t know what that’s supposed to mean… But the point is rain-or-shine we were fearless and had a great time on Michael and Joey’s shoot! Here are some images from that!

During the month of September all Senior portraits will be half off!!! Check it out, I even have a spiffy graphic.

See there? Pretty spiff huh? But it would look better with YOUR picture on it, so call me today!

Local Musician – Jonathan Peyton

I had a great meeting this afternoon with my good friend Jonathan. We worked through some photos from a recent shoot together where he did an awesome job posing for the picture I’m going to be using on my shiny new business cards. We also got some photos for his stash- which is a good thing to have if you’re a singer-songwriter type like Jonathan is.

Here are some fun shots that came out of that!

Hang out at independent coffee houses in the northwest metro area on friday nights and you’ll probably find him performing his folky-good music! You won’t regret it.

Last friday I had the opportunity to do highschool senior portraits with Lauren. We couldn’t have had more fun! Altogether four of us hit the streets in a local historic downtown, and walked to some great spots I had found beforehand. Now Lauren is absolutely beautiful, and she loves soccer and has no problem climbing trees – so we had a blast doing all outdoors on location (including in some great big trees!)

When a barista at a local coffee shop spotted the camera on my shoulder I was asked if I shoot for work or for fun. I didn’t have to think hard about that one; I immediately told him it’s both! We talked more about his passion for art, and creating venues for art – even though he’s not an artist himself (how cool!)

That brief discussion led to two things for me: plans for Saturday May 30 at an independent art show in Marietta Square, and a renewed sense of how awesome now is… Sure it’s tough at times trying to make a living as a photographer, I’ve always done it part time, but full-time. This is what I do. It’s one of the more terrifying and wonderful things that’s ever happened to me. And I love every second.

Art for me is 1 part creative expression, 1 part having fun, and 2 parts exploring what I don’t yet know. I’ll always be the student, and I think that’s just how God intended for me. He knew what He was doing when he put me together, and I’ll spend the rest of my life exploring why and learning how.

What I do know is since I decided to go full-time I haven’t looked back; I can’t help it. I love what I’m doing.

I had some time Friday to do a set of images in the studio with James. If you see two guys taking pictures of stuff on the side of the road in the North Metro Atlanta area, it’s probably James and I scouting around for shoot locations. : ) But he does great in front of the camera as well!

Getting Outside

Here are a few highlights from a family portrait shoot yesterday; we had a lot of fun doing some outdoor photos in Woodstock!

Chris really likes images that have an aged and washed out look- but with some colors still bold and saturated, so here’s one where we played with a fish-eye lens in a white gazebo.

I love capturing images that show a little bit into peoples lives, and I like this shot because you can see the love and joy Chris, Cindy and Josie have as a family, but a little of each of their unique personalities and how they relate to each other.

Everybody had a great time playing outside, even with the very cold afternoon wind!
